Actis, a growth market investor focused on sustainable infrastructure, has announced the acquisition of Klara Renewables, a 171 MW operational onshore wind portfolio, from CVC DIF, marking the launch of its second renewable energy platform in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
The newly established platform is expected to develop up to 1.5 GW of renewable energy capacity, comprising onshore wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Klara Renewables’ portfolio includes six operational wind projects located across multiple regions in Poland, including three in Wielkopolska, two in Kujawy-Pomorze, and one in Podlasie. The assets are supported by Contracts for Difference (CfDs) valid through 2038–2039 and are equipped with Vestas wind turbine technology.
In addition to the existing wind assets, the portfolio offers approximately 275 MW of hybridization potential through the development of co-located solar PV and battery energy storage projects. Actis said it plans to expand the platform by acquiring and developing additional late-stage renewable energy projects while leveraging Klara Renewables’ existing grid connections to accelerate deployment.
The acquisition comes as Poland continues to advance its energy transition. While coal currently accounts for around 56% of the country’s electricity generation, renewable energy has gained momentum, with wind contributing approximately 15% and solar around 9% of the national electricity mix.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Poland is among the fastest-growing solar PV markets in the European Union and is also expanding investments in offshore wind and other clean energy technologies. The country has set a target of generating more than 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and plans to progressively retire coal-fired generation by 2040, driving demand for at least 84 GW of renewable energy capacity to meet future electricity needs.
With the acquisition of Klara Renewables, Actis strengthens its renewable energy footprint in Central and Eastern Europe while positioning the new platform to support Poland’s accelerating transition toward a low-carbon power system.
