OMV Petrom and the Renovatio Group have secured a €47 million investment loan from Banca Comercială Română to support the development of the Gura Văii (CEE Onești) wind project in Bacău County, Romania. The financing covers at least 60% of the project’s total value and forms part of the 300 MW wind portfolio for which OMV Petrom recently took a final investment decision.

The Gura Văii project will have an installed capacity of approximately 50 MW and has already obtained all the necessary permits for construction. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate around 110 GWh of net electricity annually.

Franck Neel, Member of the OMV Petrom Executive Board responsible for Gas & Power, said the project marks another step in the company’s renewable energy expansion strategy. He noted that OMV Petrom aims to develop more than 2.5 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 in partnership with other companies and currently has 70 MW in operation and around 1,500 MW under development.

OMV Petrom entered the partnership with Electrocentrale Borzești in 2024 by acquiring a 50% stake in the company, which is developing a renewable energy portfolio with a total planned capacity of approximately 1,000 MW. The Gura Văii project is part of this broader portfolio aimed at expanding renewable electricity generation in Romania.
