Vestas received an order for the 81 MW Llano IV Wind Farm, in the province Chubut, Argentina from Aluar Aluminio Argentino S.A.I.C. Vestas will supply the equipment and installation of 18 V150-4.5MW.

Vestas will deliver a 20 year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000), service agreement upon completion. This agreement will optimize energy production and provide long-term certainty for business cases.

Aluar’s largest aluminium smelting facility in Puerto Madryn will be supplied with renewable electricity by the El Llano wind project. This will allow Aluar to meet the Argentinian requirement that large electricity consumers get a certain percentage from renewable sources.

“Vestas is happy to expand our partnership with Aluar. Aluar is one of the largest South American aluminium smelters and Vestas has a strong commitment for Argentina’s energy transformation. Andres Gismondi, Senior Director of Vestas LATAM North Cone, said that this order is the third expansion to the El Llano wind farm. It will soon produce 246 MW of renewable energy from Vestas’s turbines. This will power Aluar’s aluminum smelting facility in Puerto Madryn. This highlights how Vestas solutions can help energy-intensive industries accelerate their energy transition by providing them with cost-efficient, sustainable energy.
