Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) recently announced the winners of the 1.2 GW auctions for interstate transmission-connected wind projects.

By quoting the lowest tariff NTPC Renewables has won 200 MW @ Rs.2.89, EDF Renewables got 300 MW @ Rs.2.93, JSW also won 300 MW @ Rs.2.94 and Torrent Power got 300 @ Rs. 2.94. 1,100 MW was the maximum capacity auctioned.

SJVN and Evergreen missed the cut as their prices were higher than the L1+2% threshold. Azure Power, Blue Lead Energy India Investments and O2 Power, Anupavan Renewables , Green Infra Wind Energy, Tunga Renewable and AMP Energy were also unsuccessful getting their share due to higher bids.

Tender for Tranche XII was released in last October with some terms to be agreed by the companies like the project should be designed to interconnect with ISTS as per CERC regulations. It was the wind developer’s responsibility to acquire land to construct the project. Developers had to deploy only certified wind turbine models that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has listed in the ‘Revised List of Models and Manufactures.’
