GENERG, a NOVENERGIA Group Company, is 100% owned by Total Eren (a leading France-based renewable Independent power producer IPP) and completed the July over-equipment at its 3 largest wind farms in Portugal.

The process added 52.8 MW to the portfolio of electricity generation assets from renewable sources assets. Portugal has a total installed wind capacity of approximately 500 MW. These new wind farms have some of the most powerful and efficient wind turbines on the market. They also position GENERG/NOVENERGIA as a leader in this sector, having been the first to equip its wind farms in Portugal.

Now, the meticulously planned construction process has been completed with the commissioning and installation of the final turbine in Gardunha’s over-equipment. The financing for the three over-equipment projects Caramulo Gardunha, and Pinhal Interior which have a total capacity of 52.8 MW, was structured in a project finance plan. It was between a sub-holding of the Group that holds the 3 SPVs and two financial institutions.

In Caramulo Wind Farm, and simultaneously with the over-equipment works, an extension of the existing wind farm was also carried out at the end of 2021 with a new 4.8 MW Nordex N149 turbine added to the 90 MW already installed. This innovative and pioneering process was made possible by close collaboration with the Municipal Councils of Portugal and all other local and national entities. They were always available and willing to help solve any problems that arose.

GENERG’s technical team is currently working to complete a new windfarm in Portugal’s central zone. They are also working to over-equip some of its wind farms. These projects are expected to start construction work during 2023.
