Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL) has installed a wind turbine at Mundra, Gujarat. It is taller than the Statue Of Unity and its 78 meters blades are wider than a jumbojet’s wingspan. This is half of Adani New Industries Ltd’s renewable power growth plans. Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), announced Thursday the installation of India’s largest Wind Turbine Generator, (WTG), in Mundra (Gujarat).
Mundra Windtech Ltd. (MWL) installed the turbine, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL).
Milind Kulkarni (COO), MWL stated that the proto assembly was completed in record time of just 19 days. It has been installed and commissioned. We will soon apply for type certification.
“This prototype laid the foundation for us to build another prototype that will be taller than our 140m hub height. We will manufacture our own blades. Meanwhile, Nacelle and Hub have been assembled in our new facility in Mundra.” he said.
The wind turbine is 200 m tall and can produce 5.2 MW of electricity. It may also power approximately 4,000 homes.
The largest wind turbine in terms of energy, it has a diameter of 160 meters and is the largest. The wind turbine generator’s hub peak is 120m, which is approximately the height of a 40-storey building.
Dennis Schultz is the plant head for Blade Production Unit at MWL. He stated that “We have partnered in two European leaders of technology advancements — WINDnovation and W2E for rotor blade designs. MWL’s research, design and manufacturing expertise have made the prototype wind turbine a reality. This has opened up new possibilities for clean, green energy.
