EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA), a leading developer and operator of renewable energy projects in Indiana and a prominent player in North America’s renewable energy sector, recently hosted a special event on June 15 to commemorate Global Wind Day and recognize the contributions of the Randolph County community and its partners. Global Wind Day serves as an annual worldwide celebration highlighting the significant role of wind energy in the global economy.

EDP Renewables is a pioneer of renewable energy development and operation in Indiana and has an impressive 1,400 MW of installed capacity spread throughout the state. The company’s renewable energy projects collectively generate electricity that can light up around 372,000 Indiana homes.

The event, held at the Randolph County Fairgrounds, saw various stakeholders from the local community, including landowners, elected officials, community groups, and key partners involved in EDPR NA’s renewable energy initiatives in Randolph County coming together. Prominent attendees included Walmart, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), and prominent industry organizations such as the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Manufacturers Association, and Hoosiers for Renewables.

During the event, EDPR NA acknowledged and appreciated the local leaders and partners from Indiana who have played a vital role in advancing renewable energy initiatives and contributing to a cleaner future for the people of Indiana.  Notable community partnerships which played a crucial role in bringing the Headwaters Wind Farm and Riverstart Solar Park in Randolph County, Indiana, to fruition were also recognized. These projects, consisting of two phases, have been made possible through collaborative efforts with local community stakeholders. The land on which these projects operate is owned by more than 120 Indiana landowners and their families, who were all invited to be part of this special celebration.
