Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Institute of Frontier Science and Application (IFSA) and Kaziranga University to conduct research on wind energy potential in north-east India.
The agreement was signed by NRL’s senior chief general manager, Nikunja Borthakur, Kaziranga University’s vice-chancellor, Dr P K Mishra, and IFSA’s chairman, Dr P Goswami.
The project aims to assess the viability of wind energy in Assam’s riverine environment through mobile lidar observations over a period of three years. Kaziranga University, with technical collaboration from IFSA and funding from NRL, will oversee the project’s implementation.
The signing ceremony was attended by NRL’s director (finance) and senior officials from all organizations involved.
