Suzlon Group, India’s leading provider of renewable energy solutions, has bagged a new order. from Teq Green Power XI Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of O2 Power Pvt. Ltd., for the supply of Suzlon’s 3 MW wind turbines. The project involves the installation of 64 of these turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, on Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers. This initiative forms a part of a 201.6 MW wind power project, with the anticipated commissioning set for 2025.
Suzlon will handle various aspects of the project, including supplying the wind turbines, executing the project’s erection and commissioning, as well as providing post-commissioning operation and maintenance services.
Suzlon’s 3 MW turbines have a 144-meter rotor diameter and are engineered to unlock energy potential in low wind areas, delivering enhanced yields suitable for all Indian wind conditions. With local content reaching 85-90% upon its launch, this series underscores Suzlon’s dedication to innovation and self-sufficiency.
The S144 wind turbine generator, one of India’s largest, can be extended to 3.15 MW, depending on site wind dynamics, with a hub height ranging from 140 meters to 160 meters upon its launch. At 160 meters, the S144 will stand as India’s tallest wind turbine, delivering an impressive 40-43% higher generation compared to Suzlon’s current model, the S120 – 2.1 MW wind turbine. This highlights its capability to optimize wind resources at greater heights and render low-wind sites economically viable.
Additionally, the 3 MW turbine generators incorporate Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology and SB 70.5 carbon fiber blade, both engineered and developed by Suzlon. This cutting-edge technology enables the utilization of sleeker aerodynamic profiles, resulting in exceptional performance even in low-wind areas, and a substantial increase in generation yield per unit of land.
As a frontrunner in the renewable energy sector, Suzlon’s 3 MW wind turbine series underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to providing sustainable and economically viable renewable energy solutions for the future. The 3 MW – S144 technology will play a significant role in advancing the nation’s renewable energy and net-zero objectives.
