Vestas has secured its inaugural order for the V172-7.2 MW wind turbine, a new addition to the EnVentus Platform. The order was made by developer Uhl Windkraft and comprises six turbines for the Hoßkirch wind project in collaboration with the Comital House of Koenigsegg-Aulendorf. Vestas will be responsible for the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines and subsequently provide long-term service and maintenance under a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) agreement.

The V172-7.2 MW is designed to maximize energy generation in low to medium wind conditions. Its design emphasizes the full value chain, featuring modularity, enhanced nacelle unit transportability, and the capacity for servicing and upgrades throughout its operational lifespan.

The Hoßkirch project site is situated 40km north of Friedrichshafen. Turbine deliveries are set to commence in the second quarter of 2025, with commissioning anticipated to conclude by the third quarter of 2025.

“We are very pleased to announce the first V172-7.2 MW order for Vestas which marks the next milestone for our modular platform architecture,” said Jens Kück, Senior Vice President Sales Onshore for Northern and Central Europe at Vestas. “Our thanks go to Uhl Windkraft and the Comital House of Koenigsegg-Aulendorf for the trust in us and our technology. The V172-7.2 MW offers a great business case, especially in a low-wind environment such as in Baden-Württemberg and is an important contribution to Germany’s energy transition.”
