The French CRE (Commission for the Regulation of Energy) has shared the results of the latest onshore wind bidding round (AO 14). The said bidding pertains to a selected capacity of 1007 MW at an average price of 87.23 euros/MWh.

RWE has been successful in securing 8 projects in this bidding round, totaling a capacity of 108.7 MW. These are primarily located in northern France, in the Hauts-de France and Normandy regions. Initial commissioning is slated for 2025 through 2028.

This victory catapults RWE right in front of the pack as the company has been awarded maximum projects. It also makes RWE the second-largest developer based on the awarded capacity.

Since RWE’s entry into the French market in late 2020, it has successfully commissioned 185 MW of renewable energy capacity. It is also involved in the development of over 1.3 GW of onshore wind projects and nearly 800 MWp of solar projects in France. Additionally, RWE is also in the race for all French offshore wind tenders.

Speaking about the development, Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, said, “I would like to congratulate all the teams who contributed to RWE’s success. Securing the first position for the number of awarded projects and the second position in awarded capacity underscores once again the strength of our strategy. Our experienced teams are developing top-tier projects across France, to provide safe, low-carbon, and competitive energy solutions. The energy transition is advancing rapidly, and RWE is playing a major role in driving it forward.”
