The British Embassy in Manila has celebrated significant advancements in the UK-Philippines renewable energy partnership, with a spotlight on wind energy as a cornerstone of their collaboration.

Expanding Wind Energy Capacity in the Philippines

On November 20, the Embassy hosted a celebratory dinner reception to honor the partnership between Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation and Actis, a UK-based infrastructure investment firm operating through its Southeast Asia renewable energy platform.

This partnership focuses on the development of four new wind farms strategically located across Luzon and Visayas, adding a combined capacity of 380 megawatts to the Philippines’ renewable energy infrastructure.

Backed by an equity investment of $150 million, these wind projects have secured offtake agreements through the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP). The initiative represents a significant leap forward in the Philippines’ journey toward a cleaner energy future and showcases how international collaborations can drive progress in sustainable energy solutions.

Ambassador Highlights UK Commitment

His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Laure Beaufils, highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership, stating:
“The United Kingdom is proud to be a partner in the Philippines’ renewable energy journey. These wind energy projects demonstrate our shared vision for a sustainable future and underline the strength of UK-Philippines relations in addressing global challenges like climate change.”

Reinforcing the Wind Energy Momentum

The dinner reception also emphasized the pivotal role of wind energy in the UK’s support for the Philippines’ renewable energy transition. With projects aimed at delivering reliable, sustainable, and affordable power to millions, the partnership exemplifies the potential of leveraging international expertise to build a greener future.
