NLC India Secures 200 MW Wind Project, Strengthens Renewable Energy Push

NLC India Limited, a Navratna company under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has secured a 200 MW wind power project from SJVN Limited. The Letter of Award was received on 28th February 2025 at a discovered tariff of ₹3.74 per kWh. The company emerged successful in the e-reverse auction conducted by SJVN on 17th January 2025. The project is expected to generate 526 million units of green power annually, helping to offset greenhouse gas emissions.

This achievement marks a significant expansion of NLC India’s wind energy portfolio, increasing its total wind power capacity to 301 MW. The company has been expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector and aims to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. NLC India began its journey in renewable energy with a 51 MW wind project in 2013, and this new project further strengthens its commitment to clean energy solutions.

The newly secured wind power project aligns with India’s broader goal of increasing non-fossil fuel-based power generation. The government has set a target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 under the National Green Energy Policy. NLC India’s continued investment in renewable energy supports the country’s clean energy transition and contributes to a sustainable future.

Speaking on this achievement, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman & Managing Director of NLC India Limited, expressed his pride in securing this project. He stated that expanding the renewable energy portfolio is an essential part of the company’s strategy to support India’s energy transition. He emphasized that investments in wind, solar, and hybrid power projects, along with emerging technologies like battery energy storage systems and green hydrogen, will play a key role in strengthening India’s green economy. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering clean energy solutions efficiently while ensuring compliance with the stipulated project timelines.

NLC India is accelerating its green energy transition through strategic investments in various renewable energy initiatives. With a focus on sustainability, the company is working towards strengthening its position in the renewable sector. The execution of this newly awarded wind project is expected to contribute significantly to India’s clean energy goals.
