Suzlon Group has secured a 105 MW wind energy order from Sunsure Energy for the supply of its newly launched S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine platform, marking the first commercial deployment of the company’s most powerful and tallest FDRE-ready wind turbine in India.
The order comes just two weeks after the launch of the S175 platform and represents Suzlon’s third project with Sunsure Energy in less than 14 months. With this latest contract, the cumulative capacity between the two companies has reached 400.8 MW.
Under the agreement, Suzlon will supply, erect, commission, and provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services for 21 S175 wind turbine generators (WTGs). The project will be developed in the Bijapur district of Karnataka.
The S175 turbine features a 175-metre rotor mounted on a 160-metre hybrid lattice tower, enabling it to capture stronger and more consistent wind resources. The platform has been designed to deliver higher energy generation, improve project economics, and unlock wind potential at sites previously considered commercially unviable, thereby expanding opportunities for wind energy deployment across India.
Commenting on the partnership, Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said Sunsure Energy has evolved into one of India’s fastest-growing commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy providers since beginning its wind energy journey with Suzlon. He noted that the partnership has expanded across multiple states and turbine platforms, progressing from Suzlon’s 2.1 MW technology to the 3 MW platform and now the company’s latest 5 MW S175 turbine.
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the achievement of developing 400.8 MW with Sunsure Energy within 14 months reflects the rapid growth of India’s C&I renewable energy market and demonstrates customers’ confidence in Suzlon’s technology, execution capabilities, and product innovation.
Manish Mehta, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Sunsure Energy, said the S175 platform aligns with the company’s strategy to deliver firm and dispatchable renewable power through hybrid and round-the-clock energy solutions. He added that the deployment supports Sunsure Energy’s ambition of building a 10 GW renewable energy platform by 2030.
