Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. has commissioned a 52.8 MW wind power project in Dayapar, Gujarat, for Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), marking the company’s entry into the state and a key milestone in the development of a 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid project for the stainless steel manufacturer.
The project achieved commercial operation on 30 July 2026 and represents the second phase of the 99 MW Gujarat wind component of the hybrid project, which comprises 216 MW of solar capacity in Madhya Pradesh and 99 MW of wind capacity in Gujarat.
The commissioned phase includes 16 wind turbines and represents an investment of approximately ₹385 crore, forming part of the ₹725 crore planned for the complete 30-turbine wind facility in Gujarat. The overall hybrid project involves an investment of more than ₹2,000 crore, including a commitment of ₹132 crore from Jindal Stainless.
According to Oyster Renewable, the project has been certified for compliance with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (CERC) Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2023, as well as the Central Electricity Authority’s (CEA) Technical Standards for Connectivity, Communication, and Safety Regulations, confirming its readiness for commercial operation.
Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Oyster Renewable Energy, said the commissioning marks the company’s entry into Gujarat while advancing the completion of its wind portfolio in the state. He added that Gujarat’s strong wind resource will strengthen the project’s renewable energy mix and, once the full 99 MW facility is operational, it is expected to avoid nearly 92,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The development also supports Oyster Renewable’s target of building a 3.5 GW renewable energy pipeline.
The company said the remaining 14 wind turbines will be commissioned in phases, taking the Gujarat facility to its full 99 MW capacity and further supporting Jindal Stainless’ decarbonization strategy through long-term renewable energy supply.
