Nova Clean Energy has announced the signing of interconnection agreements and high voltage equipment supply contracts for a portfolio of wind power projects in Texas. Once fully developed, this portfolio will provide up to 1 GW of clean power to Texas consumers, addressing the state’s unprecedented electricity demand growth.
Construction of the power generation facilities is set to begin in late 2025, with Nova aiming to start delivering power in the winter of 2026. The Company is also finalizing similar agreements for an additional 500 MW of solar and storage projects in Texas. The portfolio includes multi-phase projects located in the Delaware Basin and the central Gulf Coast, strategically positioned to meet the rising demand from sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, green fuels, and data centers. As with many of Nova’s projects nationwide, this wind portfolio will feature co-located battery storage.
Since its inception in early 2022, Nova Clean Energy has rapidly expanded, currently developing over 7 GW of projects across 10 U.S. states. The project pipeline comprises more than 50% wind power, complemented by solar energy and a mix of standalone and co-located battery storage solutions. Nova is majority-owned by Bluestar Energy Capital, with co-investor Great Bay Renewables.Ben Pratt, President of Nova, said, “We are very pleased to reach this important milestone for much-needed Texas power generation. Demand growth in Texas only shows signs of accelerating, and ‘lead time to power’ is now a major concern for many large customers. Nova is proud to play a role in delivering clean native power where and when the Texas market needs it most.”
