BayWa r.e. has completed the sale of two wind energy projects in Poland and Italy, with a combined capacity of nearly 80 MW, reinforcing its role in advancing Europe’s renewable energy goals.
In Poland, the company finalized the sale of the 30 MW Kamionka Wind Farm to ENGIE Zielona Energia, the Polish renewable arm of the ENGIE Group. Located in the West Pomeranian Province, the wind farm has been operational since 2012 and comprises 12 turbines, each with a capacity of 2.5 MW. The facility generates enough electricity annually to power over 27,000 households, contributing significantly to the country’s clean energy supply.
BayWa r.e. managed the Kamionka project throughout its operational life, overseeing both technical and commercial aspects. The acquisition marks a strategic expansion for ENGIE Zielona Energia as it continues to grow its renewable energy footprint in Poland.
Separately, in Italy, BayWa r.e. signed an agreement to sell Sirio Rinnovabili s.r.l., the company holding development rights for the Vallelunga wind farm project, to Italian renewable energy producer Alerion. The project, authorized in January 2025, is expected to have a capacity of 48.8 MW and produce approximately 120 GWh of electricity annually—enough to meet the energy needs of around 45,000 households.
The Vallelunga project will span multiple municipalities in Sicily, with grid connection infrastructure planned in Cammarata. While BayWa r.e. has overseen the project’s development to a mature stage, Alerion will handle the final design, construction, and installation phases.
Commenting on the transactions, BayWa r.e. COO Dr. Daniel Gaefke said the deals highlight the company’s strong development pipeline and its ability to collaborate with a diverse range of international and local partners.
